In June 2022, with a donation from Joseph Down’s lavender farm, a group of volunteers planted new lavender in the Aspen Shores community park. Below is the planting diagram along with a description of each plant.

LAVENDER ‘BLUE MOUNTAIN WHITE’ (Lav. angust. cv.) 18-20”, a lovely lavender with pure white flowers and grey-green foliage, flowers have a sweet fragrance, blooms in June.
LAVENDER ‘BLUE JEANS’ (Lav. a gust. Cv.) 12-16”, has a very beautiful, deep violet flower colour. It contrasts nicely with the gray-green foliage. A great advantage compared to other angustifolia-types is the compact habit and the rebloom. When you prune after the first flowering, new flowers appear in late summer.
LAVENDER ‘BOWLES EARLY’ (Lav. angust. cv.) 20-24”, compact grey foliage, fragrant lavender-blue flowers, early bloomer, received the Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1963
LAVENDER ‘COCONUT ICE’ (Lav. angust cv.) 20-24 “, forms a bushy plant with dense grey-green foliage, 10- 12” flower stalks, flower buds are a pale green and open to both pink and white flowers, named for the traditional ‘Coconut Ice’ candy in England, sweet fragrance.
LAVENDER ‘FRENCH FIELDS’ (Lav. angust. cv.) 20-24”, this very fragrant lavender is said to be from the perfume fields of France, forms a compact shrub, bright violet flowers on 12-15” stems, early bloomer.
LAVENDER ‘MISS KATHERINE’ (Lav. angust. cv.) 18-20”, the longest stemmed of the pink lavenders, buds are violet in color but open to a dark pink, nice fragrance, very striking in the garden.
LAVENDER, MUNSTEAD’ (Lav. angust. cv.) 18-20”, this is the true Munstead cultivar raised by Gertrude Jekyll which was lost to the trade years ago through seed propagation, compact growth habit, silver-gray foliage, dark lavender-blue flowers, very fragrant.
LAVENDER ‘RIVERINA THOMAS’ (Lav. x inter. cv.) 30-36” large mauve flowers in late spring to mid-summer on long flower spikes, outstanding scent and production of essential oil, developed by the famed Australian, Clive Larkman
LAVENDER ‘BIG TIME BLUE’ (Lav. angust. cv.) 14-20”, A compact growing Lavender plant, Big Time Blue produces silver-green foliage that compliments beautiful purple flowers. Compact growing and perfect for perennial borders or pots.
LAVENDER ‘LITTLE LADY’ (Lav. angust. cv.) 15-18”, a small plant with a bushy habit and dense gray-green foliage, fragrant, vibrant violet flowers on 6-8” spikes, excellent for containers and low hedging.
